After go through this project, I've learnt to identify and analyze environmental qualities and contextual needs of a site, Besides that, i also managed to recall back the environmental sustainable knowledge that we ever learnt in our semester 2 and semester 3 course which are building construction and building science. This project let us applied all the thing that we have learnt into the design. the last, now we also more wise to choose or decide what material and construction way when designing a shelter or building.

Project 2

Nature Appreciation Center ( NAC )

In this project, To design a public building with some complexity that includes the complexity of site topography, culture, vegetation and also strategies to achieve sustainability design. this project is to develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design.

Belum Rainforest , Pulau Banding, Gerik, Perak is the location where the site for the NAC. The requirement for the NAC is 800sq meter. This site is so popular with the Untouched rainforest. In this project we also required to produce a site analysis that has been done by all people in our batch. Besides that, students are required to produce a conceptual model or massing model of this nature appreciation center for the first proposal. Then, students need to move on to design or develop the interior space with poetics feeling by taking environment and architectural space / form.

After go through this project, it makes me learn a lot which are the way to design and create architectural space with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing building which impact on the users. When designing the NAC, I try to bring the environment and also nature into my design to let the users get close to the nature. The design of the building or this NAC is to achieve sustainability in architectural, to save the nature and also to save energy. last, the NAC design is design based on the typology of the site in a way to respect the surrounding and also nature.
